God's blessings!

Well, we are completely in awe of God's provision. A few weeks ago we got an early morning call from Derreck's grandfather telling us they wanted to pass along their 99 Ford Windstar van. They were in a position to buy a new(used) Navigator and felt that God was leading them to gift their van to us. This week they drove it up to us (and brought fresh cukes and beans). They got to see a typical day at camp and seemed to love everything about it. The van is amazing, drives beautifully, is totally decked out and just makes us drop our jaw at the whole thing. We feel so unworthy, yet bask in the wonder of God's blessings. Thank you to grandma and grandpa, and to our amazing, loving God for his provisions.

we keep going and going and going...

well, thursday marked the 10th anniversary of the day we said "i do!" derreck was running the zip line at camp on wednesday night and, I'm told, was counting down the minutes until it turned 7/19/07. I received a beautiful vase of flowers as well. On thursday night's chapel, i showed a slideshow of our last 10 years, in extreme brevity. About 12 pictures to the whole thing, set to the intro of "faithfully" by Journey. The campers went "awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww", and had a good laugh at derreck's large rim glasses. Once i viewed the quick slideshow i realized how short 10 years really is. These past 10 years have been so great, they were easy. It's those couples who've been married 50 years who have such an amazing accomplishment. I look forward to seeing all the photo memories we collect after 50 years. i love my husband.

The Craft Lady, Sleepy Parents, and a Shoe Fetish

wow, i haven't posted since May!! It's been a busy month i guess. we've completed two summer camps now, and have six to go. I'm getting accustomed to my role as camp photographer and "craft shop lady", as some of the younger campers refer to me. The word "lady" makes me feel old, but i'd rather be seen as "lady-like" than anything else, so i'm cool with it. Juggling motherhood and camp ministry is getting easier too, thanks to my youth group girl, Tasha, who helps watch the girls. But it is VERY tiring. Every time i stop and sit down, i start to fall asleep, kinda like those fathers who could fall asleep the minute their head hits the recliner. I never understood that like i do now. I had fun with teaching some senior high campers a dramatic skit to act out to the rest of the campers. They had only 4 practices, but did a stellar job on performance night.

My girls are getting more daddy quality time as we all learn to balance camp life. He just gets so tired out that he volunteers to take them home and put them to bed, so then he can go to bed early (early being 11 pm, when campers are here). Jenna got a new bike that she doesn't want to ride on the dirt (pretty much the entire camp) because "it's wobbly". We're letting her take her time with it. Rachel is into the shoe fetish stage. She likes to take off other peoples shoes and put them on her feet. Derreck thinks she isn't talking as soon as Jenna did, which is probably very common, but I know the words she says. She has her own words for "uh-oh, doggy, all done, momma, dadda, sisser, amen, good job, and hot dog". funny how you can tell a lot about a family by what the baby says first, such as...we feed her a lot of hot dogs, she drops many things, and we play with the camp director's dog, Ellie Mae.

Well, because i'm ready to fall asleep at the keyboard, i better end this pos...............zzzzzzzzzzz.
